Our Practices
Sustainability
We are always striving to become more self-sufficient. We are blessed with a flat parcel of land with plenty of sunshine. All the power for the farm is generated by ground-mount solar panels where we are experimenting with various shade-loving plants such as spinach and mushrooms. The water comes from a deep well as a clean sustainable water source. We also capture rainwater as a supplemental source of water. We compost almost everything we can and use that compost to re-enrich the soil. We use organic fertilizers for plant growth, and diatomaceous earth when appropriate to manage aggressive plant-destroying insects. We have a pollinator field over a corner of the property to attract and provide safe nesting for the bee population. We have been focusing on more natural ground covers to move away from reliance on plastics. Through composting, reuse, and recycling, we have significantly reduced waste.
We place a high value on learning, education, and knowledge sharing - finding connections with people where our farming techniques could help others to grow their own produce, and constantly learning and trying new things to further develop our products.
